Meet… LaQuita Chambers
LaQuita Chambers, the pre-health advisor at the College, has an extensive history of serving others.
“I have over 21 years of military service and continue to serve with the 403d Wing at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. My career in the military has afforded me the opportunity to see the world and gain a lot of experiences with various cultures,” she said.
At MCC, Chambers helps students interested in getting a health education degree, guiding them in one of the nine different medical studies the College offers. “I enjoy helping students identify career goals and become academically successful,” she said.
In fact, her passion for working with students led her to MCC. “After completing my active duty Air Force assignment with Air Force ROTC at the University of Southern Mississippi, I joined the Air Force Reserves and moved to Meridian to be with my fiance’.
A native of Pearl, Chambers holds two associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force, one in social services and the other in logistics; a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from USM and a master’s degree in education in school counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
“I began my career in education through a program called Troops to Teachers and became an eighth-grade science teacher in Houston, Texas,” she said.
Chambers added, “My previous position was an associate professor of aerospace studies at the University of Southern Mississippi Air Force ROTC program.
