Veterans salute to honor campus and community vets

Karen J. Teague, commanding officer for Naval Technical Training Center Meridian, will be the keynote speaker when Meridian Community College hosts its veterans tribute on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. in the Graham Gymnasium. 

Incorporating the theme "Honor," the MCC Veterans Day Program will salute both campus and community residents who are or have served in the military. 

Cmdr. Teague became the 25th Naval Technical Training Center Meridian commanding officer in June 2022. A native of Oakdale, Calif., Cmdr. Teague has earned two defense meritorious service medals, a joint service commendation medal, two Navy and Marine Corps commendation and achievement medals, as well as holding a senior professional in human resources certification.

 In addition to the keynote address, Naval Air Station Meridian will present the colors; MCC sophomore Maggie Freeman will present "God Bless America," and MCC Guitar Instructor Mitch Brantley will offer a patriotic guitar tribute.

 A reception will follow the ceremony.
