MCC grad receives state radiological society scholarship
Meridian Community College Radiologic Technology Program graduate Jennifer Austin received the Mississippi Radiological Society Scholarship.
As a state chapter of the American College of Radiology, the Mississippi Radiological Society offers scholarships to the top graduates of Radiologic Technology Programs in Mississippi who exemplify academic excellence, financial need, and sound moral character.
Austin gained entrance to MCC’s competitive Radiologic Technology Program on her first attempt and has maintained a 3.74-grade-point average (on a scale of 4.0) for the five-semester program. At MCC, Austin added President’s List Scholar, Phi Theta Kappa honor society, and National Technical Honor Society member to her list of accomplishments. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and Health Occupation Students of America. Additionally, Austin was awarded the Circle of Excellence award at graduation.
After May’s graduation, Austin passed her American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certifying exam first write scoring in the 88th percentile.
She is employed by Southern Bone and Joint Specialist in Hattiesburg. Austin and her husband, Kyle, have two children, Ryer and Mila.
