Meet… Javien Grant

Javien Grant

In a world where career choices range far and wide, one Meridian Community College student is deliberately choosing to pursue a profession that will keep her on her feet – respiratory therapy.

Meet Javien Grant, a 19-year-old Philadelphia native who is a sophomore residential student at MCC. "I came here for the Respiratory Therapy Program," she said, noting she's taking the remainder of the prerequisite classes this term and plans to graduate in May. Her favorite class? Personal Community Health.

Ever since high school, Grant said she's been interested in health-related fields, initially considering a career in dental hygiene but thought respiratory therapy would suit her better.

When she's not involved with her classwork, Grant enjoys spending time with her family. Grant herself is one of a triplet; her brother attends Georgia State, and her sister is a student at Mississippi State. And she likes to bake cakes – she recently made her cousin's birthday cupcakes.
