Meet Jamie Agent
MCC Associate Degree Nursing Instructor Jamie Agent finds working with students and seeing the nursing field from a different perspective rewarding.
“Helping to foster compassionate care for patients is important to me,” she said. Agent joined the MCC nursing faculty in the Spring Semester 2021 and noted the transition from working as a floor nurse to instructor is a work in progress. “When working in the field, you take your knowledge and skills for granted. In this role, I’m having to slow down and remember the reason behind the tasks and care to better prepare my students. Knowing why and how will help the students to perform to the best of their abilities once on their own,” she said.
Agent earned her associate degree in nursing from East Central Community College, “I’m originally from that area,” she said; a bachelor’s degree at Mississippi University for Women and a master of science degree in nursing in the family nurse practitioner arena.
Her first job as a registered nurse was in telemetry at Anderson Regional Medical
Center. “Working at Anderson’s Hospital always gave me access to MCC students and
instructors,” she said. And now that she’s on board at MCC, she’s excited to get the
opportunity to help prepare others.
