Hyde-Smith visits MCC to see forensic training partnership firsthand
U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith visited Meridian Community College to get a closer look at specialized forensic training taking place at the MCC-Riley Workforce Development Center.
During the visit, Sen. Hyde-Smith toured the classroom used by RSA Forensics and learned more about the company’s partnership with MCC. The Collinsville-based company provides forensic science training to law enforcement and other professionals from across the country and around the world.
The partnership allows RSA Forensics to use MCC’s Workforce Development facilities for its International Forensic Training Academies. Students receive focused classroom training in multiple areas of forensic examination at MCC, while some hands-on evidence processing takes place at the company’s laboratory in Collinsville.
Sen. Hyde-Smith’s visit allowed her to see the training environment firsthand and learn how the partnership brings specialized training to Meridian.
For MCC, partnerships like the one with RSA Forensics are an important part of the College’s workforce mission. By working with businesses and industry partners, MCC can provide facilities and support for training that meets real workforce needs.
The partnership also brings professionals from outside the area to Meridian for extended training while giving them access to MCC’s classrooms, computer labs and other Workforce Development resources.
