Honors College sophomores celebrated at group’s gathering
Sophomores in the Phil Hardin Honors College at Meridian Community College were saluted as the group’s honor forum held its final gathering for the 2023-24 academic year.
“They have worked hard for the time they have been with us, and we are proud of the students and the adults they are becoming,” said Morgan Boothe, co-chair of the honors group. “We’ve enjoyed getting to know their personalities and playing a small part as they realize their hopes and dreams for the future,” she added.
Boothe recapped highlights of the academic term: “This year, we took a day trip to TopGolf, wrote thank-you cards to instructors for Teacher Appreciation Week, and hosted a Dress for Success seminar with Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Student Dr. Cedric Gathings. In the fall semester, we hosted a cookout at the campus BSU house and brought John Beede, Everest mountaineer, to speak to our students about resilience, determination, and focus.”
In addition, the students logged in more than 360 community service hours.
At the forum, sophomores receiving medals to wear at graduation included Allison Beard, Hannah Dover, Bradon Epting, Lamar Gibson, Madison Hines, Isaac James, Reese King, Nathan Mott, Emma Watson, and Emma Winstead. Additional honors college members Ember Temple, Amari Davis, and Braeden Brewer were saluted.
Boothe added, “We are indebted to the Phil Hardin Foundation for supporting these Honors graduates.”
