MCC Health Information Tech grads post perfect score

Health Information Technology

Meridian Community College's Health Information Technology (HIT) Program Class of 2023 graduates successfully passed their national licensure exam, the Registered Health Information Technician, on their first attempt for a 100 percent pass rate.

Graduates are eligible to write the accreditation examination of the American Health Information Management Association for the designation of Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

"The students put in tremendous effort," said Becky Higginbotham, coordinator and instructor for the Health Information Technology Program. According to Higginbotham, preparing for the exam "requires self-discipline and commitment to ongoing study even after graduation."

The national pass rate average is 72 percent.

MCC's Health Information Technology Program gives students the knowledge and skills to help ensure the quality of health care through quality information without direct patient contact. The medical world depends on health information specialists to collect, interpret, protect, and determine how the data can be used.
