MCC Health Information Technology grads post top scores
Meridian Community College’s Health Information Technology Class of 2021 graduates successfully passed their national licensure exam on their first attempt for a 92 percent pass rate.
Graduates of this program are eligible to write the accreditation examination of the American Health Information Management Association for the designation of Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
Currently, the average nationally for all test takers is 72 percent.
The Health Information Technology Program gives students the knowledge and skills to help ensure the quality of health care through quality information without direct patient contact. The medical world depends on health information specialists to collect, interpret, protect and determine how the data can be used.
“The students worked really hard,” said Becky Higginbotham, MCC Health Information Technology Program coordinator and instructor. Being prepared for the exam, “takes self discipline and willingness to continue studying after graduation,” said Higginbotham.
