MCC selected for 2024 Great Colleges to Work For® list
Meridian Community College has been named one of the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For® and has earned the Honor Roll designation.
The Great Colleges to Work For® annual program highlights institutions with top employee satisfaction based on a workforce practices and policies survey. This made it the second year MCC was recognized on the Great Colleges to Work For list and the first time the Honor Roll designation had been given to MCC.
The survey results are based on a two-part process: an institution questionnaire that captures each institution's employment data and workplace policies and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff — the primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.
The results were recently published in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education. Nationally, 216 institutions were recognized as 2024 Great Colleges to Work For®, with only 77 community colleges.
MCC earned Honor Roll recognition in seven key areas: Professional Development, Mission and Pride, Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness, Confidence in Senior Leadership, Faculty and Staff Well-being, Shared Governance, and Faculty Experience.
MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner celebrated the achievement. "This honor reflects the hard work of our faculty and staff in making MCC a supportive and welcoming place for employees and students. We'll continue to build on this strong foundation as we move forward together," Dr. Huebner said.
Seven Mississippi institutions, including MCC, were named to the Great Colleges to Work For® list: The University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Southwest Community College, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Additionally, only two other Mississippi institutions had as many areas of recognition as MCC: MSU and NEMCC.
Great Colleges to Work For® is one of the largest workplace recognition programs in the country. ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm, administered the survey and analyzed the results.
