MCC Summer Commencement set Aug. 2
Meridian Community College will hold its summer commencement on Friday, Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Evangel Temple Church, 3611 Highway 145, Meridian.
One hundred and twelve students are candidates for graduation at this ceremony.
College officials are looking forward to this event. Dr. Cedric S. Gathings, vice president for student affairs and dean of students, expressed his excitement for the students' achievements, highlighting their dedication and perseverance in reaching significant milestones. "Our students have shown remarkable resilience, and we are honored to celebrate their accomplishments," he said.
During the ceremony, graduating students Lindy Williams, Zachquana Cole, and James Germany will offer the invocation, welcome, and benediction, respectively. Williams is a Cosmetology student, Cole is a Practical Nursing student, and Winford is a University Transfer student.
MCC sophomore Payton Alexander, a music major, will lead the audience in singing the College's alma mater.
Before the commencement ceremony on Aug. 2, MCC's Practical Nursing Program will hold a separate pinning ceremony at 11 a.m. in the Evangel Temple to honor the nursing students and celebrate their journey to becoming nurses. In addition, on Thursday, Aug. 1, the Paramedic Program will host its pinning ceremony at 11 a.m. in the Workforce Development Center Room 171.
