Two MCC graduation ceremonies set for May 6
Meridian Community College will host two commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 6, in Evangel Temple to celebrate the academic achievements of the Class of 2022.
College officials noted that 397 students are candidates for graduation. The students in the Career and Technical Education Programs, Health Programs, and Nursing will march in the ceremony at 11 a.m.; University Transfer Program students will gather for the 3 p.m. ceremony.
MCC holds three commencements each school year in August, December, and May.
Dean of Student Affairs Deanna Smith said the college community looks forward to this milestone-making event. " Our students come from all different areas, backgrounds, potential barriers and have pushed through, and I cannot wait to see them cross the finish line,” she said.
Smith added, “they have worked hard, and I am excited about their future and proud that MCC gets to be part of their story.”
One of the highlights of the commencement programs will be the announcement of MCC’s “Circle of Excellence” honorees. They are students nominated by faculty members for their classroom achievements and community service activities. Eleven students will be recognized during the Career and Technical Education ceremony, and 31 will be honored in the University Transfer Program ceremony.
Also, during that event, the H.M. Ivy Scholarship winners will be named as will recipients of The Phil Hardin Foundation Scholarships.
