Wanting to get a jump start on his future, Meridian Community College student Damarcus Oliver was one of the hundreds who joined the Meridian Area Governor’s Job Fair on Thursday.

“This gives me an opportunity to look around,” the Welding Program student said of the event that joined job seekers and employers in one location. Oliver anticipates graduating from the MCC career and technical education program in May. “Now I have options,” he said of the employment opportunities. Oliver joined his Welding classmates, who also met with potential employers before their May graduation.

Mandy Hurtt, lead recruiting coordinator at MCC, noted the Job Fair also was an ideal opportunity for the College to reach out to the community.

MCC was one of the many public and private organizations taking part in the free event for job seekers and employers.
