Telling the tale: Arts & Letters hosts ‘For the Love of Telling a Story’ Nov. 2

Discover why storytelling is a mainstay of the Southern way of life when Meridian Community College's Arts & Letters Series presents “For the Love of Telling a Story” on Thursday, Nov. 2. 

Mississippi-native writers John Floyd, Sophie Sims Hudson, and Laurie Parker will take the spotlight in this conversation-filled lunch program, set for noon to 1 p.m. in the College's Workforce Development Center, Room 171. 

Seating for this luncheon is limited, and tickets must be purchased by Friday, Oct. 26. Tickets are $25 each. 

Floyd is a multi-award-winning mystery writer who authored The Barons, Fifty Mysteries: The Angel Files, Deception, Clockwork, Midnight, Rainbow's Endand Other Stories. Hudson, a Meridian native, is a best-selling author, speaker, and co-host of The Big Boo Cast who's written A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet, Home is Where My People Are, Giddy Up, Eunice, All in All, Stand All the Way Up. Parker is an acclaimed writer, poet, and artist who's works include Everywhere in Mississippi, The Matchstick Cross, Yonder Breaks the Morning, Hush, Swing, Hush, Trespassers Talking, and Gently Scattered Intentions. 

"For the Love of Telling a Story" will feature a casual lunch, engaging conversation, and an interactive question-and-answer session with these talented writers. Attendees will gain insights into their creative processes and inspirations and have the opportunity to purchase the authors' books.
