Meridian Community College to host two commencements Dec. 12

Meridian Community College will hold two Fall 2025 Commencements on Friday, Dec. 12, at Graham Gymnasium on the College’s campus.
The ceremony saluting graduates from the Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, and Health Care Assistant programs will begin at 10 am. Career and Technical Education and University Transfer programs grads will be recognized in a ceremony that’s set for 1 p.m.
One hundred and eighty-six students are candidates for graduation.
Dr. Cedric S. Gathings, vice president for student affairs and dean of students, said College faculty and staff look forward to these ceremonies, noting the hard work and dedication behind each student’s journey. “Our graduates have shown remarkable resilience and purpose,” he said. “We’re excited to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished and the futures they’re stepping into.”
During the 10 a.m. commencement, graduating students Adrienne Edwards, Emanjarrie West and Jennifer Nelson, will present the invocation, welcome and benediction and adjournment, respectively. Lauren Broome will lead the audience in the alma mater.
Graduates Veronica Fox, Jayla Edwards, and Broome will offer the invocation, welcome, and alma mater, respectively, during the 1 o’clock ceremony. Broome will also present the benediction and adjournment.
Recipients of the Circle of Excellence will be recognized during both ceremonies as well. These students, who studied in both the College’s University Transfer and career and technical education programs, are saluted for their academic achievement, leadership, community service, and spirit.
Before the graduation ceremonies, two of the College’s health care programs, Practical Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing, will host separate pinning ceremonies on Thursday, Dec. 11, to honor the nursing students and celebrate their journey to becoming nurses.
The Practical Nursing Program will begin its pinning ceremony at 4 p.m., and the Associate Degree Nursing Program pinning will start at 5:30 p.m. Both ceremonies will be held in the McCain Theater, located in Ivy-Scaggs Hall.
