Meet Earron Stewart

With a hefty dose of determination, Meridian Community College freshman Earron Stewart is focused on her education.

"MCC has helped me grow in my confidence in myself," the 39-year-old Meridianite said as she took a break from her studies for semester final exams.

Stewart is back in college for a second time, proving that it's always possible to follow one's educational dreams. Becoming a mom when she was a teen, Stewart dropped out of school and got her GED, but she still struggled with career choices. "I was trying to maneuver and find my way, and I ended up in programs that I wasn't interested in, and I dropped them," she explained of her earlier college experiences.

"I had to prove to myself I was smarter than that," she said, so Stewart enrolled in the Media Production Technology.

She credits her church family and MCC for helping. "I'm buying into what the community college can give me," Stewart said.

Stuart is looking forward to the Spring Semester 2024 at MCC that starts on Jan. 10. She's especially excited about one of her Media Production classes, where the students will operate an unmanned drone typically used for capturing aerial images. "I like telling stories with pictures and producing," Stewart said. Her goal is to own a studio to inspire other women.

"I want to thank MCC for giving me a second chance," she said.
