Ten Meridian Community College faculty and staff members are beginning a nine-month journey focused on leadership development, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the College through the Eagles Leadership Convocation (E.L.C.).

Sponsored by the MCC Foundation, E.L.C. is a College-based professional development program designed to strengthen leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while helping participants build connections with colleagues across campus. The program encourages both professional and personal growth while preparing employees to contribute to MCC in new ways.

The Class of 2027 includes Mya Adams, operations coordinator; Heather Ammon, Practical Nursing Program coordinator and instructor; Mark Brentnall, director of visual media; Anthony D’Angelo, Information Systems Technology Program coordinator and instructor; Marquita James, director of account operations; Will Nathan, vice president for enrollment services and institutional technology and chief technology officer; Janet Parrett, accessibility coordinator; Brandi Pickett, Wellness coordinator and instructor; Tracy Stockton, Eagles Nest Bookstore assistant manager; and Erica Stokes, communications instructor.

MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner and Dr. Leia Hill, chief of staff, vice president for institutional advancement and operations and executive director of the MCC Foundation, serve as program facilitators. Glenda Sanders, executive assistant to the chief of staff, vice president for institutional advancement and operations, and MCC Foundation office coordinator, is the program assistant.

The class will meet monthly through May 2027, exploring topics including leadership and communication, diversity and inclusion, legal and human resources issues, crisis and meeting management, and building effective relationships and teams. Participants will also gain a broader understanding of College operations and have opportunities to learn from MCC leaders and one another.

As part of the program, class members will work together to identify a need at MCC and develop a proposed solution. Their group project will be presented to College leadership at the conclusion of E.L.C. in May.

“This opportunity is great and I am definitely looking forward to ending better than I started,” said James about what she hopes to gain from her E.L.C. experience.

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a $500 stipend.

The Class of 2027 began with an orientation session designed to introduce participants to the program, one another and the leadership journey ahead.
