Contrell Terrell

Contrell Terrell is no stranger to the world of education.

Before coming to MCC to serve as an academic advisor for the Associate Degree Nursing Program in August 2022, Terrell served more than a decade as a special education teacher and case manager, guiding and supporting students in the kindergarten through 12th grades.

"At this juncture in my career, I am learning more now than ever how to be flexible in embracing new challenges, learning, and sharing all the resources that MCC has to offer to support our students to become productive citizens and valuable contributors to the world that we live in,” Terrell said.

Shaping the next generation of leaders drives Terrell; he also loves interacting with colleagues, delving deeper into higher education, and discovering new and innovative ways to support students best. "I am committed to lifelong learning, and I believe serving in this capacity has helped change the trajectory of how I view and serve public education," he said.

Terrell added, "MCC has been the place that fosters my talents and is truly an environment that supports my passion and future aspirations in education.

"I am glad to have found MCC to be a place that fuels my continued drive for service in education," he said.

With a bachelor of science and a master of art degrees in special education under his belt, Terrell holds a specialist degree in educational leadership.

He is the youngest of his siblings and served as his mother's primary caregiver, who had sickle cell disease until her demise in 2020. "I have five amazing sisters who embraced me through love and among them have made me the proud uncle of 11 nieces and nephews," he added.
