MCC’s College4Kids’ return to campus can be described as a recipe for success.

From class-created rockets lifting into the sky over Scaggs field to spot-on manicures to multicolored mosaic greeting cards to the chance to slime a community college president, College4 Kids not only yielded fun but also sparked a love of learning.

The first week of College4Kids went well, said Courtney Pitts, college outreach and communications specialist and coordinator for the program. Brandon Dewease, director of student engagement, agreed. “This initial offering of College4Kids after the pandemic and Courtney’s first time as the leader couldn’t have gone more smoothly,” he said. “I’m proud of her and her team,” he said.

Some 250 youths from ages 6 to 12 participated last week and about that number will return for more activities this week, Dewease said.

College4Kids will conclude Friday, June 18.
