College for Kids returns for week two

Meridian Community College’s College for Kids has wrapped up its first week of summer fun, and excitement is already building for another round of learning and laughter when students return Monday, June 8.

“We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones who didn’t participate the first week,” said Program Coordinator Ashlee Dean.

Throughout the first week, students explored more than 30 classes, ranging from art and science to hands-on games and creative activities. One of this summer’s biggest hits has been Fashion Designers 101, where soon-to-be trendsetters sketched outfits, designed patterns, created vision boards, and brought their own runway looks to life.

Other favorites included Cartooning and Comic Creations, Makeup Magic, and Little Gardeners. With instructors leading the way and assistants lending a helping hand, College for Kids gives youngsters the chance to experience a college campus while learning, creating, and having fun.

Approximately 560 youngsters are participating in this year’s College for Kids.
