MCC’s College for Kids still a summer favorite for youths
The halls of Meridian Community College will come alive with laughter, paintbrushes, flying rockets, and even a few bath bombs.
MCC’s popular summer program College for Kids is once again giving hundreds of children a hands-on learning experience that’s fun and rewarding.
The two-week camp serves children ages 6 to 12; more than 500 children are registered for this year’s session. “I just hope that they see MCC as an innovative, fun-filled campus, and as we grow these kids up, they’ll see MCC as their No. 1 choice,” said Ashlee Dean, College for Kids program coordinator, about the annual event.
“We’re thrilled to have so many kids on campus again this year,” said Mandy Hurtt, MCC’s executive director of recruiting and admissions. “It’s a great way to stay connected to the community, and it gives the kids a chance to explore new interests outside the traditional classroom.”
College for Kids offers dozens of unique classes — from cooking to coding, and painting to pickleball. Some are brand new, while others are longtime favorites.
Classes wrap up Friday, June 13. While registration is closed for this year, MCC encourages families to start thinking about next summer — registration typically opens in the spring.
