Casteel Gallery concludes Women's Art Collective show, opens ceramics exhibit
Women’s Art Collective Artist Andrea Kostyal, left, shows details of her painting to visitors at the Casteel Art Gallery.
Meridian Community College’s Casteel Gallery wrapped up the season’s first exhibit, The Women’s Art Collective: Group Show, with a closing reception, celebrating the creativity of a group that has fostered artistic growth in Hattiesburg since its founding in 2011.
The collective comprises women seeking a supportive space for critique and inspiration and showcases diverse works from its members. Member artist Andrea Kostyal shared her thoughts about her paintings with campus and community visitors to the gallery during the reception.
As the exhibition closes, the gallery prepares to open a new show, Dillan Ladner: Ceramics as Sculpture, starting today, Sept. 23. Ladner, an MFA graduate from the University of Alabama, brings a collection influenced by an upbringing near New Orleans. These ceramics will be on display until Oct. 24, with a closing reception scheduled at 3 p.m. in the Casteel Gallery.
