Casteel Gallery to feature Alabama Art Casting Exhibit
Meridian Community College's Casteel Gallery will showcase Alabama Art Casting: Group Show and Happenings from Nov. 11 to Jan. 30, with an opening reception on Nov. 11 from 3-5:30 p.m.
This exhibition will feature the works of Alabama Art Casting, a nonprofit art organization founded in 1998 and dedicated to educating the public about metal casting techniques through workshops that involve processing raw materials, making molds, and demonstrating furnace operation.
Alabama Art Casting's programs, such as those at Tannehill Ironworks Historic State Park and Red Top Mountain State Park, bring art to life through mobile iron-pouring demonstrations. They have collaborated with various universities, including Florida State University and the University of Southern Mississippi, and have participated in the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices since 1999.
The exhibit will be displayed in the Casteel Gallery through Jan. 30, when a closing reception is planned from 3-5:30 p.m.
The Gallery, located in the Davidson Fine Arts Center in Ivy-Scaggs Hall, is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
