All treats, no tricks: Candy Cruise returns to MCC Oct. 29 for a night of Halloween fun

Superheroes, princesses, Minions, and monsters will take over Meridian Community College's track as families gather for an evening of costumes, candy, and Halloween fun.

MCC's annual Candy Cruise Around the Track returns Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Hosted by the MCC Eagle's Nest Bookstore and sponsored by the MCC Foundation, Candy Cruise brings students, faculty, and staff together to create themed booths where children can collect candy and enjoy Halloween activities.

The event continues to grow as a fall tradition for area families. In 2025, about 2,500 people attended, and MCC teams handed out more than 80,000 pieces of candy.

This year's lineup includes Spider-Man, Scooby-Doo, Disney princesses, the Avengers, and more. MCC departments and student groups will also bring their own creative twists to the event, with themes ranging from a candy shop and dollhouse to "Monster Mash" and "Operation Trick or Treatment."

A special early admission period will be held from 5 to 5:30 p.m. for guests with special needs. The sensory-friendly option offers smaller crowds and easier access before the event opens to the public.

"We want every child to be able to take part in this celebration," said Jan Murphy, manager of the Eagle's Nest Bookstore.

Families needing special accommodations can request an early admission pass by calling 601-484-8650.

First held in 2020 as a drive-through event during the COVID-19 pandemic, Candy Cruise has grown into an annual campus celebration that brings MCC and the community together.
