Cruise for treats at MCC Track on Tuesday

"This has been a wonderful event each year, and we're looking forward to another great one this year," said Jan Murphy, MCC Eagle's Nest Bookstore manager. The College's bookstore hosts this event for the community and campus. Eighteen teams of different campus programs and organizations will encircle the track with their booths, dishing out candy, smiles, and other treats.

They'll be dressed for the occasion, using themes that include Hello Kitty, Under the Big Top, Lady Eagle Cowgirls, Barbie, Super Mario, Disco, and others. The College's Dental Hygiene Program students, dressed as tooth fairies, will hand out toothbrushes.

Murphy noted that this year, a special-needs early-admission will begin at 5 p.m. for guests who need special accommodations. It will be a less crowded environment, and there will be access to closer parking; Murphy added sensory-friendly items will be given. A special-needs access pass is available by contacting Murphy at 601.484.8614 orβ€―jmurphy8@meridiancc.edu

This year's Candy Cruise marks the third time the College is hosting this treat-or-treat event. In 2020 hundreds of vehicles and well over 1,000 adults and children traveled through the College's first Find Your Boo in Our Drive Through Candy Cruise, taking treats and leaving smiles and laughter. Because of its initial success, Candy Cruise moved to the College's Track, allowing participants to be handed their treats in person. For this year's event, Murphy added there will be a special surprise during the Candy Cruise.

Admission is free of charge.
