BEEP brings resources to the community with open-house events

Meridian Community College’s Best Early Education Practices (BEEP) program celebrated its 14th year by taking resources directly to families. The program recently hosted three community open houses at Meridian public housing facilities, allowing parents, educators, and local stakeholders to connect with early childhood experts and services.

BEEPRather than waiting for families to seek out information, BEEP went into the community to provide support and share resources designed to strengthen early childhood development; each family left with helpful tools and information.

BEEP is open to children eight weeks through five years of age who have current immunization records. The initiative continues to be a cornerstone for children, parents, and educators in our community, promoting best practices for lifelong learning, said Win Shumate, MCC Child Development Technology Program coordinator and instructor. BEEP personnel include Pat Harvey and Mary Coleman.
