BEEP Project

Best Early Education Practices (BEEP) are age and developmentally appropriate expectations and activities that promote the development of the whole child. Activities include all curricula areas and encourage the social, emotional, physical, language, math, pre-reading, and independence skills that children need before entering a kindergarten classroom. The BEEP Project is funded through the generosity of the Phil Hardin Foundation, MCC and the MCC Foundation, United Way of East Mississippi, and private donations.

HOW DOES BEEP SUPPORT KINDERGARTEN READINESS?

The BEEP Project currently provides weekly services for Best Practices with parents and their children at three Meridian Housing Authority sites (George Reece Court, Western Gardens, and Eastern Gardens). Weekly phone consultation is provided with BEEP Project participants at Frank Berry Courts. Enrollment is open and offered to all residents of Meridian, Lauderdale County, and surrounding areas.

WEEKLY ONE-HOUR SESSIONS FOR CHILDREN & PARENTS

TWO-HOUR WORKSHOPS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS

  • The workshops provide books, activities for each area of development, teacher-made materials, and educational toys for the classrooms of children ages six weeks to two years old, and ages three years to five years.

  • Participation in the workshops meets Mississippi Child Care Licensure requirements for contact hours.
