MCC Associate Degree Nursing Program earns continuing national accreditation through 2034

Meridian Community College's Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program has been awarded continuing accreditation through 2034 by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
The program received no findings during the accreditation review, reaffirming its commitment to meeting nationally recognized standards for nursing education.
“Receiving continuing accreditation from ACEN reflects the dedication of our nursing faculty and staff to providing a quality education that prepares students for success in the nursing profession,” said Dr. Lara Collum, vice president for Workforce Solutions and dean of nursing at MCC. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in our program, and we are proud to see those efforts recognized at the national level.”
ACEN accreditation assures students, the public, and the educational community that a nursing program meets established standards for educational quality and student outcomes.
MCC faculty and staff spent more than a year preparing for the accreditation review, which included a comprehensive self-study and an evaluation of the program's compliance with ACEN standards. The program continues to collect and analyze data as part of its ongoing commitment to quality improvement.
MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner said the recognition reflects the College's commitment to preparing highly skilled healthcare professionals who serve communities throughout the region.
“Our nursing program has a long history of preparing students for meaningful careers in healthcare, and this accreditation reinforces the quality of education they receive at MCC,” Dr. Huebner said. “We are proud of our faculty and staff for their dedication to maintaining these high standards and ensuring our graduates are prepared to make a difference in the lives of the patients and communities they serve.”
The latest review marks the program's second ACEN accreditation visit, following its previous review in 2018.
MCC's Associate Degree Nursing Program is a 73-credit-hour program that prepares graduates for entry-level positions as registered nurses. Graduates earn an associate of applied science degree and are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The program combines general education and nursing coursework with hands-on clinical experiences. Students develop foundational nursing skills in MCC's laboratories and gain practical experience caring for patients in affiliated hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
Day, evening, and hybrid program options are available to accommodate students with different schedules.
