Ambrielle Adams finds her niche in new tasks
Now serving as lead coordinator of housing and student activities, Ambrielle Adams enjoys the College’s family atmosphere.
She's guided students to safety in hazardous weather, and she’s gathered canned goods for a local food pantry.
For Ambrielle Adams, it's all in a day's work for Meridian Community College's lead coordinator of housing and student activities. "I really enjoy my job, especially with the activities right now. I think I have found my niche," she said.
Adams, who began working at the College in June as a hall director, moved into her current position late in Fall Semester of 2022 and has taken on the tasks enthusiastically. Planning fun and safe events for students to enjoy on campus are rewarding to her because it helps the students. "These events help to bring down the intensity of classes and the stress level. Everyone can come and relax and have fun once in a while," she said.
And that student-centered focus continues in her work with housing. "I handle various tasks from roommate conflicts to maintenance requests; whatever is needed of me," Adams said.
A native of Newton, Adams graduated from the Mississippi University for Women with a bachelor's degree in exercise science; she's currently working on her master's degree in physical education from the University of West Alabama. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., where she pledged at MUW, and is a member of the Meridian alumnae chapter.
Still, she's found a home away from home at MCC.
"I’m really happy to be here,” she said, noting colleagues have been supportive. "Everyone is very nice, very friendly," Adams said.
She added, "there are smiles on campus."
