St. Clair returns to MCC to inspire current students

Meridian Community College alum Joy St. Clair, a current mechanical engineering student at Mississippi State University, returned to MCC to share insights from her undergraduate research journey.

Speaking to students and faculty, St. Clair emphasized the practical benefits of research, which include enhancing future opportunities and developing professional communication skills. “Research is not just about spending endless hours in a lab; it’s about exploring real-world applications of what we learn in classrooms,” she said.

Drawing from her own experiences, including her research internship in Colorado and her travels to Prague and Milan, St. Clair emphasized the broadening of horizons that research offers.

St. Clair, who received the Ivy Outstanding Student Award for her sophomore year of studies at MCC, plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in December. She will continue her education by attending Colorado State University to continue her mechanical engineering study with a focus on energy.
