Detention officers complete training program

Seven adult detention officers from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department received their certificates after completing 96 hours in the Adult Detention Officer Training Program at Meridian Community College. 

The training gives detention officers the skills and knowledge to provide care, custody, and control of various custody levels within detention centers. The course is required for every detention officer by the State of Mississippi Board on Jail Officers Standards and Training. 

Receiving their certificates were James Mosley, Brandon Gregory, James Cox, Sheila Smith, Angie Bridges, Andrea Spencer, and Elizabeth Robinson. The instructor is Major Melissa McCarter; Lauderdale County Sheriff Ward Calhoun III congratulated the officers for their achievement.
