Meridian Community College's music performance group, Dimensions, is in rehearsals now for the 2020-21 academic year.
With the beginning of a new academic year often comes new assignments not only for students but also for faculty and staff as well.
Meridian Community College hosted its second online commencement spotlighting the candidates for the Summer 2020 graduation class. MCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner told viewers, "Graduation in any form is a day to celebrate." In his address, he noted faculty and staff congratulate the students and celebrate their achievements, and the day is special. "It relevels how important this degree is to you in a way you never imagined," he said.
Seven Meridian Community College students were chosen as members of the Summer 2020 Circle of Excellence. The students, who studied in both the College's University Transfer Program and the career and technical education programs, were saluted for their academic achievement, leadership, community service and spirit.
When Tylier Roberts was laid off from her job in March when the pandemic swept through the Meridian area, she knew it was time for a change. "I wanted to do something different .... Be essential," she said, so she's enrolled in Meridian Community College's Medical Office Management Technology.
