My College Cares
My College Cares is Meridian Community College's annual day of service, bringing MCC students and employees together to give back to organizations throughout our community. Participants may spend the day painting, cleaning, completing outdoor projects, organizing supplies, assisting local organizations, or helping with other projects based on community needs.
Daytime classes are canceled for the event. Eligible students who participate in My College Cares and complete the required Self-Affirmation Course activities in Canvas can earn one college credit hour. Employees who choose not to participate in My College Cares should report to work as scheduled.
How Do You Want to Serve?
There are two ways to participate in My College Cares. Choose the option that best fits your role.
Volunteer
Students and employees can sign up to serve at one of the available community project sites.
Each site will have an MCC employee serving as Team Captain. Your Team Captain will contact you before the event with your reporting location, arrival time, what to wear, and any other instructions for your project.
Employees may volunteer individually or as part of a department or group.
Team Captain
MCC employees may volunteer to serve as Team Captains and help lead a group of volunteers at a community project site.
Team Captains serve as the primary contact between MCC, the community partner, and the volunteers assigned to that location.
If an MCC department plans to serve together, one employee will register as the Team Captain. Other employees should register as volunteers.
