Team Captains

My College CaresMy College Cares is a day of volunteer service for all faculty, staff, and students. The college will be closed, and daytime classes canceled. It is expected that since you will not be working that you will be serving in some capacity. This year's event will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

We ask that our faculty and staff serve as Team Captains for students. In the past we have had departments that want to serve together. This is fine if we have enough supervision for our student volunteers. If you plan for your department to serve as a group, you would designate one person to be the Team Captain. This individual should complete the form below. The rest of the department must sign up as volunteers by completing the Volunteer Form.

Duties of Team Captains:

Contact your location and verify final details. 

  • Where should you meet exactly?
  • What time should you meet?
  • Verify service requested.
  • Verify the number of volunteers needed.

Contact the volunteers that have signed up for your location.

  • They need to know the GPS address of where to report and the time. 
  • All volunteers should wear some type of MCC t-shirt and have their MCC badge visible. Clothes should be appropriate to the service requested.
  • The Eagle's Nest Bookstore on campus will offer a 10% discount to anyone that needs to purchase a shirt.

Take attendance and collect waivers the morning of the event. 

  • You will have access to a form you can print prior to the event of everyone you will be responsible for. 
  • Have all students sign in and sign waivers the morning of the event.
  • Return attendance sheets and signed waivers to Susan Swink in Student Affairs on 10/18/23

 
*Full-time students can earn a 1-hour self-affirmation credit if they complete all the assignments in Canvas and are in attendance on the day of the event.
