LEAD speaker offers decision-making skills to students

Kimberly Rush offers encouragement to participants at the LEAD session.

Equipping students with decision-making skills was the focus of the October LEAD – Leadership Effectiveness and Development – session hosted by Meridian Community College’s Campus Life.

Kimberly Rush, associate dean of advising, retention, and student success, addressed the audience at the David H. Quave Student Life Center and began her talk with a game of “Would You Rather,” prompting students to choose between two scenarios and think of their decision-making process.

Participants then focused on the critical steps in making informed decisions, such as weighing options and considering long-term effects. They also gained advice on building a solid support system while being encouraged to surround themselves with wise, positive people who can offer guidance and reinforce decision-making skills.

LEAD sessions, held monthly and open to all MCC students, are designed to help students develop strong skills in leadership and personal and professional development and offer educational enrichment. The following sessions for Fall Semester 2024 are scheduled for Nov. 6 and Dec. 2, starting at 1 p.m. in the Quave Center.
