On the Job

With their Todd Hall offices side-by-side, Meridian Community College colleagues Tanisha Clark and Casey Holladay put the College in the best possible light through their work in the College Communications division.

Clark came on board in August 2022 as the College's media specialist, and Holladay arrived at MCC a month later, assuming the role of director of social media and events.

An alumna of MCC, Clark earned her associate of applied science degree in broadcast communications. She continued her studies, receiving a bachelor of science in media production from the University of Southern Mississippi.

At USM, she landed her first job as a desk assistant; Clark also worked at WTOK TV as a producer of the station's live news broadcasts. "A friend told me there was an opening for a media specialist, and I thought this would be a great opportunity for a career change," Clark said about the MCC position.

"What I like best about my job is being creative and working with other creative people," she said, noting she's currently learning the industry-standard Adobe After Effects software that's used in the post-production process of filmmaking and television production. She's also gaining experience by producing the College's weekly television show MCC Today, filming and editing videos for the MCC social media pages, and streaming athletic, academic, and campus-wide events.

Casey Holladay"Being a part of the MCC community and helping students are just a few of the highlights of my work," Clark added.

She and her family are close. "I love spending time with them, and I can go to them for anything, from words of encouragement to telling me a funny story," Clark said.

For Holladay, taking charge of all the social media for MCC allows her to interact with other departments. “It's enabled me to learn more about MCC and all we have to offer," she said. But it's not just social media that's under her purview. "I handle events such as ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings," she said.

"The team in my department that I work with daily is wonderful. They make coming to work great and have been so helpful,” she said.

She added, "Everyone on campus has been so welcoming since Day One."

It was a friend who told Holladay about the job opportunity at MCC. “I knew I wanted to apply. Friends who work here can't say enough great things about working at MCC. I knew I wanted to be a part of what MCC does for our community," she said.

With a bachelor of education degree from Mississippi State University, Holladay knows it's vital to continue learning. "It's important to challenge yourself and to know that you can always make personal and professional improvements,” she added.

Holladay and her husband Robert – who works at Clarkdale High School – are the parents of two daughters, Rylee, 7, and Reagan, 4.
