What is Student Government Association?
- Student Government Association (SGA) is a group of students charged with managing events, activities, programs, policies and initiatives around MCC. Members may be elected by the student body or appointed by the elected officials to help with specific tasks. SGA represents the best interests of MCC'S student body and helps shape the student experience on campus. Membership is open to all current students enrolled in at least one course for credit. “Interested students” include all credit enrolled students who desire to be SGA participants. Officers are elected by the student body.
What does Student Government Association do?
- SGA hosts a variety of events throughout each semester. SGA meets regularly to discuss student concerns, future events, and act as the voice of the entire student body. Members can opt to run for Officer Positions at the beginning of each Fall Semester or join as a Committee Member at the beginning of each semester (Fall and Spring).
Why is Student Government Association important?
- SGA is designed to work as a representative body through which students can voice their concerns and interests. They are students advocating for students. The Officer Body, comprised of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Multi-Media Coordinator and Treasurer, is the representative body of the SGA and represents the members in all matters. If you become aware of an issue on campus, have an idea for activities, campus improvements, or have any other questions or concerns, contact one of these students.
